Live and Let Live

It has been a while since I wrote on here, but it is not for lack of things to write about. Today I decided to write again because I have been wondering what life would be like if we all just chose to 'Live and Let Live'. I can't help but suspect that the world would be a much nicer place and definitely a friendlier place to be. I like the sound of that and I can't imagine that there is anyone who doesn't. I wonder what it is about us that makes us chose the opposite of the thing that we desperately want the most. I mean when it comes down to it, don't we all just want to live and enjoy life? Why then don't we choose to facilitate that and instead choose all the things that absolutely guarantee the opposite?

I have been wondering what it would take for us to choose to love ourselves enough that we would only choose what is good for us as well as others around us. You see, the more I think about it, the more I realize that the only way we can be happy in this life is if we can learn to love ourselves as we are. This is because when we love ourselves we are then incapable of offering nothing less than love to others and if we only offered love to others then we would all live and let live.

I am not the only one who feels this way, and I can't be the only one who wants this, so I ask, why don't we all do something about it? I guess the bigger question really is whether we can do it and how we could even take on such a task? We have spent much of our time here learning more how to hate than to love, it seems. We have done it for so long that it comes so easily to us that we don't even recognize it to be hate or worse to be the creed we live by.
It is hidden in our jokes, our comments, our avatars, our free speech, and in so much of everything we do. Entire industries, economies, religions, communities, even countries thrive on it and we call it interesting labels and names like, Government, war, porn, church, lifestyles, TV, News, comedy, tabloids and I could go on and on.

What would it take for us to choose to say something kind to a woman who just had a baby and not comment instead on how much weight she has gained? What would it take for us to choose to talk instead of go to war? To share instead of hoard so much that our neighbor goes hungry while we have way more than we need? To see the beauty in something different instead of criticizing it? What would it take to say' tell me more', before we judged so harshly? What would it take for us to see our own flaws and to choose to love ourselves with them before we crucified others for theirs as well as our own? Or to like ourselves enough to let others like themselves as well? What would it take to choose to learn about another culture instead of demeaning it? What would it take to say ' I am sincerely sorry, I shouldn't have done that' instead of choosing to save face? What will it take for us to see that we are in this together and that when we hate ourselves, we hate others, and when we hate others, we hate ourselves? What will it take for us to see that we really are in this together and that our best chance at getting it right is to do it together? What will it take? I ask because I want to know and I ask because I am all in. What will it take? And can we start now? I can - and I choose to start now, it will be so much more fun if you join me so we can do it together! I look forward to it and hope that you come too because I can't do it alone and that is a fact.
